At this Convention, you will be able to:
1. Select Libertarian nominees to partisan, public office for the 2018 GENERAL ELECTION on NOVEMBER 6, 2018.
If you'd like to run for office this year, you MUST attend the State Convention. You must declare your candidacy, and secure the nomination. If you are thinking of running for office or want to help with an election campaign, please see more information by clicking here. All attendees to the Convention who are registered Libertarian Party of Nevada are allowed to vote in the primary selection of Libertarian candidates. NOTE: NOTA (None of the Above) can be nominated for any office. Nominees selected by County Convention cannot be overruled by the State Convention. See details for the Washoe County Convention by clicking here, and the Clark County Convention by clicking here.
2. Make changes to the Libertarian Party of Nevada Bylaws - see the latest text copy here, and download a PDF here.
Please email State Secretary Lou Pombo at [email protected] with your Bylaws Amendment Proposals at least 7 days in advance of the Convention (no submissions after Saturday, February 24th). No Bylaws Proposals will be accepted from the floor of the Convention - only germane changes to previously submitted amendment proposals. NOTE: You must be a dues-paying member to participate in this part of the Convention ($60 or more donated from March 3, 2017 - March 3, 2018). You can donate now by clicking here.
3. Fill Vacancies on the State Executive Committee.
There is a single vacancy that has been filled by pro-tempore appointment - At-Large Representative Wendy Stolyarov. The Convention will have the right to confirm her appointment as permanent (ending at the 2019 Convention), or to select another to serve in this position. For more information on the Executive Committee positions and their functions, please see article V of the Bylaws. NOTE: You must be a dues-paying member to participate in this part of the Convention ($60 or more donated from March 3, 2017 - March 3, 2018). You can donate now by clicking here.
4. Hear Reports from all 7 members on the Executive Committee about the work they have accomplished this past year with your help.
Of particular interest is the annual Treasurer's Report (Tim Hagan), detailing the explicit income and expenditures of the Party, as well as the State of the Party address by the Chairman, Jason Smith. You will also hear a report from Vice-Chairman David Colborne, Secretary Louis Pombo, Northern Regional Representative Erin McHam, Southern Regional Representative Debra Caren Payne, and At-large Representative Wendy Stolyarov. Please click here to learn more about your 2017-2019 Executive Committee members.
5. Participate in a Report from the Executive Director of the Libertarian Party of Nevada to the Executive Committee and ask questions.
This report focuses on the Party's specific progress in the past year on 5 key areas: Donors, Donations, Volunteers, Social Media, and Voter Registration. It also details the goals for the coming year of the Party. This report is compiled from the hard work of the Party's volunteers and leaders in 2017 - if you'd like to join the leadership team, please see positions and an application here.
We'd like to thank our donors, volunteers, and registered voters for making 2017 an incredible year - and we look forward to kicking off the 2018 Election Cycle right! If you want to help the Party, be sure to sign up to volunteer, donate to the Party (or even become a dues-paying member!), and register to vote as Libertarian Party of Nevada!
You can also volunteer at the Convention - sign up at a shift below. From 9a - 11a we need people to help us set up the Convention room, signs, banners, etc. From 11a - 1p we need people on the Credentialing team, assisting with the photographer, and greeting people as they arrive to become a credentialed delegate. Thank you in advance for your assistance, and we look forward to seeing you there!
