2021 Remote Participation Guide

We are attempting to enable remote participation while simultaneously enabling in-person participation. To do so, a willingness to empower each and every participant, regardless of geographic participation, will be vital. Be advised that remote participation will not be an airtight, seamless process. We ask for every participant's forbearance and patience during this convention.

To discourage "Zoom bombing" and other disruptions of party business, we will be relying on invite-only Google Meet rooms. Google Meet does not require a software installation on PC or Mac. Mobile applications are available on both the Apple App Store and in the Google Play. If you have never used Google Meet before, you are strongly encouraged to either attend the convention in person or to test your preferred remote participation setup at https://meet.google.com

Remote participation will take place in three phases:

  1. Online credentialing will be done from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM through an invite-only Google Meet room.
    1. If you have not already been invited to the credentialing room and you wish to participate remotely, please email our remote participation facilitator at [email protected] and they will add you to the invite-only room.
    2. Once you are credentialed, you will receive a calendar invite for the convention Google Meet room.
    3. Note that, to be a credentialed remote participant, you will need to be a dues-paying member of the Libertarian Party of Nevada. Dues are $60/year and may be paid online here. You also must be a Libertarian Party registered voter in the State of Nevada. Voter registration may be updated online here.
  2.  From 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM, a training and remote participation workshop will occur in the convention participation Meet. During this time, we will discuss:
    1. How to conduct "hand votes".
      1. We are currently using G Suite Legacy licensing, so Hand Raise is not enabled with our Google Suite subscription. We will be using a different methodology to meet this parliamentary need.
    2. How to participate in secret ballot elections via Election Runner.
    3. How to bring motions (privileged or otherwise) to the floor.
  3. At 10:30 AM, the convention will start.

Unless you are called on, please keep your mic off and please do not chat using the room chat feature. You do not need to enable your camera to participate remotely. The convention floor will be pinned to the Meet to ensure remote participants are able to see (to the best of our technical ability) what business is being conducted on the floor.

Be advised that procedures for remote participation may change once the convention begins. These procedures will be clearly communicated to all convention delegates, but this guide may not be updated in real-time to reflect those changes.

Thank you again for your patience. With your support, all delegates — in-person and remote — will have their voice heard in the 2021 Libertarian Party of Nevada State convention.
