Neff's Bigotry posted 21 September 2007

In Erin Neff's Sep. 20th column "Root goes Libertarian", she insulted all Libertarians and religious Libertarians especially.

The central message of religion is peace, love, understanding, and the golden rule. Those core messages are the foundation of the Libertarian Party.

The Libertarian Party believes in protecting our troops from unnecessary wars, like the one in Iraq that every Democrat and Republican Representative from Nevada voted for. Saving lives is consistent with all religious teaching, especially the teaching of Jesus, and his adherents, who Ms. Neff labeled "Jesus-freaks".

Libertarians come from all walks of life and all religious backgrounds. We are teachers, lawyers, and single mothers. We are Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Agnostic, Atheist, and everything in between.

If Ms. Neff wants to resort to name calling for those who believe the teachings of Jesus Christ, that's her choice. The Libertarian Party strongly supports everyone's right to free speech. But, we also support everyone's right to seek and express their spirituality unburdened by the chains of bigotry or religious intolerance.

Any reader of the Las Vegas Review Journal who was also offended by Ms. Neff's column should know the Libertarian Party welcomes all people of all faiths who seek to live in peace and by the golden rule.
