2012 a New Year, and 40,000 New Laws!

Written by Bill Pojunis on 02 January 2012.

Welcome to 2012! and 40,000 NEW Laws going into effect this year across the country!
Nationwide these range from such wonderful ideas as requiring horns on golf carts to voter ID requirements to raises in the minimum wage rates.  Personally, I believe we have quite enough laws already, thank you very much, and what really needs to be done is to assign the entire Code of Federal Regulations into 535 sections, one each for every Senator and Congressman, with each section reviewed, scrutinized, evaluated and final recommendations made to continue, amend or repeal each regulation. Then, every agency which promulgates regulations (most, if not all, without any Constitutional authority to do so) should be put through the exact same process. I fail to understand why every new Congress feels it absolutely, positively MUST pass some new laws in order to justify their existence, and then begin running for re-election as if they had accomplished something momentous during their term! I feel my recommendation makes far more sense, and would be far more beneficial to the country in general!

From the article, these are the Nevada changes excerpted:
Nevada:

The state attorney general gains new subpoena powers to investigate open meeting law complaints, and members of public bodies who knowingly participate in violations are subject to civil penalties up to $500.

Music therapists and dietitians face new licensing requirements, while educators must now undergo a criminal background check when their licenses are renewed. Fire performers and apprentices must apply to the state fire marshal for certificate of registration.

A statewide emergency alert system is established for vulnerable elderly people, similar to the Amber Alert system for abducted children.
