"Joe the Plumber" - maybe Congressman Wurzelbacher?

Written by LPNevada News.

"Joe the Plumber" might be considering a run for Congress? How interesting a race would that be? Ever since he "confronted" candidate Obama and got the famous answer about "spreading the wealth around", Joe has been on the speaker's circuit, written a book, and started a non-profit group for veterans in Alaska, among other things. His instant notoriety propelled him into the limelight, something from which he has not shied away in the intervening time. He claims that he has been asked repeatedly to run for some office, because, as he puts it, "look where the professionals and experts have gotten us", and supporters suggest he would bring some common sense to government.

His potential opponent, Marci Kaptur, hs been in Congress since the 1980's, is a member of the Progressive Congressional Caucus, and has unwavering Union support. It remains to be seen whether these associations will continue to be helpful to her candidacy, or will they be viewed as symptomatic of the problems plaguing Washington? If we do see an actual run on the part of "Joe the Plumber" - how much attention would that race generate? Only time will tell, but it is fascinating to speculate at this juncture.

Rupert from Survivor is bringing Rupert’s Kids to Las Vegas.

Written by LPNevada News.

When someone does something to give back, it is worth publicizing. Not many people would be tackling the task that Rupert Boneham has undertaken, nor would they use their own money to start something to be purely a benefit to others, especially for a group that many others would have discarded long ago.
That being said, this infor
mation needs to be shared, and, for those of you who might not know who Rupert is, or recognize the name, here is an excerpt from the Wikipedia entry about him.

Here Rupert is pictured with the leaders of the Nevada Libertarian Party: Brett Pojunis, Treasurer of the Libertarian State Leadership Alliance, Joe Hassen, Treasurer, Nevada Libertarian Party, Rupert, Wayne Allen Root, Vice Chairman Nevada Libertarian Party and Vice Presidential candidate of the Libertarian Party in 2008, and Joseph P. Silvestri, Chairman, Nevada Libertarian Party.

Rupert Boneham - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
Rupert Boneham (born January 27, 1964) is an American mentor for troubled teens who became known to reality television audiences in 2003 as a contestant on Survivor: Pearl Islands where he placed 8th. He later appeared on the All Stars and Heroes vs. Villains seasons of Survivor, placing 4th and 6th respectively. He was ultimately a fan favorite among Survivor viewers, who voted him the million dollar winner onSurvivor: America's Tribal Council, a special episode of Survivor: All-Stars. The prize was awarded after a nationwide popular vote in which Boneham received 85% of the votes cast.

For Immediate Release

Rupert from Survivor is bringing Rupert’s Kids to Las Vegas.
Rupert is financin
g the program all without governmental assistance.  Rupert’s new Casino Games are being (released / premiering) at the Golden Nugget, August 22, 2011 at 5:00 pm.  Rupert’s Island Draw, a brand new, two-card poker game and Rapid Replay, a side wager on Roulette that pays $299 to $1.  Twenty percent of everything Rupert generates from the ownership and licensing of his games, with more games to come, will go into an account and stay where it is generated to create a local chapter of the Rupert’ Kids program.
Rupert will pledge to open the doors one year, if not sooner, from today – August 22, 2011, with the Golden Nugget’s help along with the three Casinos – Prim Valley Resort & Casino, Wild Bills, and Whiskey Pete’s, as the first Casinos to sign, helping Rupert’s Kids and offering the new games.
Rupert has an opening in Prim, Nevada with all three Casinos on August 24, 2011.
With a twenty year history of running a non-profit mentoring program in the detention centers with the youngest and hardest case clients, Rupert is confident he can start a program in Las Vegas that will save the community substantial dollars but more importantly, taking that 17 to 24 year old out of our pockets and helping them to become self-sufficient and learn how to earn a legal living instead of becoming a career criminal.

Brett H. Pojunis wins election to LSLA!

Written by Joseph P. Silvestri.

Who’s Brett H. Pojunis? And what’s the LSLA?

Although not (yet) a household name, Brett is a quickly rising star in the Libertarian Party. If you haven’t noticed, his company (http://www.newmediaplus.com/) created our fantastic new website. I think it’s the best in the country.

Since Brett has joined the LPNevada, his efforts have greatly improved our party. It has been a pleasure to work with this talented entrepreneur and steadfast Libertarian.

Recently we attended the Libertarian State Leadership Alliance (http://www.lsla.org/) conference held in Columbus, Ohio. This conference is held annually and brings out the best political leaders of the Libertarian Party from around the country. Each year we hold a series of workshops to assist Libertarian Party leaders grow our party. I enjoy it immensely. It’s encouraging to work together and network with other professional people committed to building up the nation’s Third Party.

This year we elected a new slate of Officers to serve for the upcoming year. It’s noteworthy that these seasoned long-term LP leaders (mostly Chairman of their respective state organizations) acknowledged the skill set and value Brett brings to the LP. I’m proud to announce Brett was elected as Treasurer for the LSLA and that the next LSLA conference will be held in Las Vegas next May in conjunction with the 2012 LP national convention.

Besides touting the efforts of one of our newest and best activists, I’m also stressing that we need new people like Brett.

We need committed, dedicated professionals to build our party into a powerful organization that wins elections and helps restore liberty.

If you believe you have the skills and dedication to do more than just talk about liberty, but are ready to work for it, then join us!

Become a member (register Libertarian, pay your dues) and then get involved. Bring your skills (like Brett) and help make a difference today!

If you’d rather finance liberty, well, that’s ok too.

Just visit our donate link (http://www.lpnevada.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=91&Itemid=224) and put some skin in the game (or rather “green” in the game)!

Thanks again for supporting your Libertarian Party!

Joe
