FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY OF NEVADA URGES THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF LAS VEGAS TO VOTE AGAINST THE $200 MILLION DOLLAR SOCCER STADIUM

Libertarian Party of Nevada is encouraging the Las Vegas community to help them stop the funding of a soccer stadium with tax payers money.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada, October 1, 2014 - The Libertarian Party of Nevada (LPNevada), the third-largest and fastest growing political party in America who believes in individual freedoms, personal responsibility, free markets, less taxes, and smaller government, urges the Mayor and City Council of Las Vegas to to vote against using tax payers money to fund the soccer stadium.

Today the Las Vegas City Council will vote on a proposal to use tax payer's dollars to fund a soccer stadium located in Symphony Park area in downtown Las Vegas. The proposal is from a private partnership of the Cordish Companies, a Baltimore based holding company who operates in Real Estate Development, Gaming & Lodging, Entertainment Management, and Private Equity Holdings and Findlay Sports and Entertainment, a Las Vegas based company focused on bringing a professional Major League Soccer (MLS) team to Nevada. The proposal requires the City of Las Vegas to provide the land for the stadium at no cost to the private partnership as well as incur approximately 46% of the development costs. There will be additional operating expenses associated with the development and ongoing maintenance and improvements.

"There are many people who want a professional sports team in Las Vegas but not at the expense of the tax payers," said LPNevada Chairman Brett H. Pojunis. "The tentative deal puts too much burden and risk on the City of Las Vegas and will most certainly lead to additional taxes on the already taxed too much tourists of Las Vegas. I encourage every member of the community to show up at the City Council meeting today to speak in opposition. If you can't make it in person, please email and call your city council members and urge them to vote no."

The City Council meeting starts at 9:00am and will be on the 2nd floor of City Hall, 495 S. Main St.
